People on the roadway often drive with the assumption that they will get to their particular destinations without a problem. However, an unexpected car accident can drastically alter a person’s plans, causing injuries or even leading to a tragic death if the accident is severe. One person was injured and at least one individual died in a recent Minnesota highway car accident.
The crash took place on the state’s Highway 241 on a recent Monday morning. It involved multiple vehicles, according to authorities. The accident occurred when a pickup truck that a 54-year-old man was operating ended up broadsiding a car that was trying to turn left, police said.
The driver of the pickup truck suffered no injuries in the collision. Meanwhile, a minimum of one individual in the car that was reportedly hit died. Yet another individual in the car suffered injuries and had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter.
The pickup truck driver who allegedly struck the car may held liable for the death and injuries stemming from the cash. If he is found to have been speeding or disobeying another rule of the road, such as driving while distracted, this might be treated as one causal factor in the collision and therefore be presented as proof of driver negligence in a related civil suit. The family members of the deceased victim have the right to seek compensation through a wrongful death lawsuit, while the injured party may file a personal injury claim. A successful outcome in either case may help to ease the plaintiff’s pain and suffering following the unfortunate Minnesota car accident.
